Well, it has been a while since I last blogged and as you can imagine that is not due to laziness. Things have really been hopping around the office since our expansion into 4500 square ft! For those of you who have been buy I am glad you like it and for those of you yet to come, I hope it is as calming and relaxing for you as we have endeavored to make it.
As for the title of my blog this week, my father is coming to visit me in NYC for the first time since 1995. He lives in California and it is a difficult trip for him. We, like many families, have had our differences and problems, but at the end of the day I can't get away from feeling that much of our own neurological and psychosocial healing comes from a relationship - no matter what it may be - with our families. Now, that may require alot of work or come very easily, but having the unconditional love of someone is a very precious and healing medicine. Many of us choose and seek out our own "families of choice" and that works just as well. As long as we have the fabric in our lives of others who care about us and are vested in our health, we are well on our way.
I look forward to seeing my father in a few days and having him see the successes his son has achieved. It will be a short visit, but just long enough for me to get my "medicine".
