What is Physiotherapy? It is the practice of medicine and healing that involves hands on care of the human body. The most common form and one most familiar with patients is physical therapy. But many patients don't realize that it also includes techniques such as electrical stimulation and ultrasound of sore muscles, therapeutic massage to relieve inflammation in tender trigger points and even the use of relaxation techniques in an effort to relieve stress points at other painful areas of the body.
If you are referred for a physical therapy evaluation as part of your treatment plan, you may be prescribed any of the these modalities which are tailored specifically for you and your diagnosis.

Physical therapy is performed by a licensed practitioner, under the guidance and referral from a physician. Your treatment plan may include isometric exercises, elliptical training, ultrasound to sore and inflamed muscles, heat therapy, untrasound, and even therapeutic massage!
Our physical therapist, Dr. Hillis, will spend his first visit with you going over your particular problem and developing a plan with realistic treatment goals. You can be referred to our physical therapy office by your primary care physician, your surgeon, or from one of our neuroligsts: Dr. Geraci or Dr. Casarona. |

At neurOasis, you may be prescribed a course of therapeutic massage, performed by an expert massage therapist under the direction of both Dr. Geraci or our chiropractor, Dr. Doug Fredman.
This type of massage is focused on a certain body part in an effort to treat the inflammed muscle in a particular area and improve function, range of motion and strength. For many of our headache patients, this type of physiotherapy is essential in reducing trigger point inflammation and reducing the frequency and severity of your headaches. We incorporate this type of therapy with traditional western medicines and intravenous drug therapy to get the maximum benefit in our patients with severe and debilitating pain or headache. |
